In Uganda, about 4 million smallholder farmers struggle to access quality seeds, losing nearly USD 640 annually per household in food and income (ISSD, 2020). Indigenous seeds, however, are critical for food security and preserving agro-biodiversity (FAO).
Recognizing this gap, Eden Seeds was founded to create a decentralized, farmer-owned seed brand that connects resilient indigenous seeds with local farmers, ensuring availability, affordability and accessibility.
Eden Seeds partners with community seed banks and existing seed producers to multiply and distribute climate-resilient, high-performing indigenous seeds. Through a decentralized network and farmer-owned model, we strengthen local seed systems and empower communities.
